Description

With no programming or previous coding experience required, students are introduced to the fundamentals of game design and prototyping. Students will learn what makes games fun instead of frustrating, and instruction will focus on teaching students how to craft digital experiences instead of write code. Applying these design principles to their own working prototypes, students will gain firsthand experience with the game design process used in the games industry and leave the course with a playable prototype. This three-week course will prepare students for future courses in game design, game development, and human-computer interaction.

Computer Requirements:

  • Participants using a Windows computer will need a computer that runs either Windows 10, 8.x, 7, or Vista. They will also need at least 246 Mb of RAM.
  • For those with Macs, macOS 10.15 isn’t supported by the software that is used during the program. Participants will need their operating system to be somewhere between OSX 10.9  and 10.14.
  • Please note that Chrome books and tablets won’t work.
  • A microphone (either built into the computer or external) is strongly suggested so that students can discuss course material without having to type it all out, but it’s not essential!
