About Penn State Health

About the Medical Externship

Students partnering with Penn State Health will have a unique experience to work alongside a designated preceptor in one of our ambulatory practice site locations.  During their time, students will learn the fundamentals of the Medical Assistant role, interact directly with patients, providers and other staff, and learn hands-on skills relative to the practice site.  Skills learned during the externship can be seen in the “Skills Checklist.”

Students will not be paid during this experience.
