The Fundamentals of Productivity Software (NPTH 120)

The course develops the skills to create workbooks and spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel for organizing and analyzing data. Students learn to use formatting, formulas, charts and various data tools for data management. Microsoft Outlook is also explored as a communication and productivity tool. Students learn to manage messages, schedules, contacts, groups and lists in the Outlook environment. Skills with the productivity tools are developed within the context of personal productivity and providing training and support to other users.

Students who successfully complete the course will receive 3 college credits. In addition, students will have the opportunity to take the Microsoft Office Specialist: Outlook and Excel Certifications.

Prepare for a career pathway in IT. Successfully complete this course and certifications and, as a high school graduate, you’ll receive a $1,300 discount towards the NuPaths Technical Support Specialist program. Computer Specifications

A computer with Windows 10 or higher is required with at least 16 GB of RAM and at least 20 GB of available hard drive space.
A Chromebook will not suffice for the PC Simulation software that is used in the course.

You may be eligible for Grant funding to cover the program cost.
To be eligible you must fit all three categories:

  1. Your age is between 14-18 or 18-24
  2. You reside in one of the following 8 counties (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lebanon, Perry or York)
  3. Your student ONLY Income is between $0-$30,268
