Foundations in Information Technology (NPTH 110)

The course focuses on the basics of computer hardware, software, mobile computing, networking, troubleshooting, and emerging technologies. Students learn about configuring operating systems, file and folder management, networks and network configuration. Students will gain a fundamental understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, software, networking technologies and protocols, web browsers, security risks, troubleshooting errors, and system maintenance. The course also includes an exploration of technologies such as cloud computing and virtualization.

Students who successfully complete the course will receive 2 college credits. In addition, students will have the opportunity to take the CompTIA IT Fundamentals Certification.

Computer Specifications

A computer with Windows 10 or higher is required with at least 16 GB of RAM and at least 20 GB of available hard drive space.
A Chromebook will not suffice for the PC Simulation software that is used in the course.
