The course focuses on the basics of computer hardware, software, mobile computing, networking, troubleshooting, and emerging technologies. Students learn about configuring operating systems, file and folder management, networks and network configuration, and the role of the OSI model in networking and troubleshooting. Students will gain a fundamental understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, computer application software, networking technologies and protocols, web browsers, identifying security risks, troubleshooting errors, and system maintenance. The course also includes an exploration of cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing and virtualization.
COURSE: FOUNDATIONS IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The purpose of this course is to prepare you on a pathway for a career in IT. If you complete this course and certification, you will receive a $1000 discount towards the NuPaths Technical Support Specialist Program. Technical Support Specialists troubleshoot software, fix operating system issues, rebuild computers, and perform general maintenance on computer devices. With the field of computers and technology constantly changing and growing, there will always be a need for technical support specialists.
Students who successfully complete the course will receive 2 college credits. In addition, students will have the opportunity to take the CompTIA IT Fundamentals Certification.

Computer Specifications
A computer with Windows 10 or higher is required with at least 16 GB of RAM and at least 20 GB of available hard drive space.
A Chromebook will not suffice for the PC Simulation software that is used in the course.
You may be eligible for Grant funding to cover the program cost.
To be eligible you must fit all three categories:
- Your age is between 14-18 or 18-24
- You reside in one of the following 8 counties (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lebanon, Perry or York)
- Your student ONLY Income is between $0-$30,268
