Description

Biotechnology is essentially an applied and interdisciplinary STEM field with a huge impact on human life owing to its applications in healthcare, food, agriculture, bioenergy, and many more. During the recent Covid pandemic, the vaccines, RT-PCR tests helped save billions of lives- all of these are Biotechnology products…….

This week-long program will provide students with an overview of these different fields of biotechnology and how they are used in everyday life and various career options. Each day we will focus on a new branch of biotechnology including medical, nanobiotechnology, and food biotechnology. Students will learn how DNA works and how biotechnology can manipulate it to create new drugs and innovative technologies for cancer detection and treatment. This camp will include daily hands-on lab activities such as how to diagnose a disease using biomarkers or create food products such as cheese. The goal of this course is to introduce students to biotechnology and the various ways it affects and improves our lives.

This course will help those interested in medicine, biomedical engineering, and laboratory research.
